Dior Takes Us Inside The Making Of The Rose De Vents Jewellery Collection

Go on a journey with jewels that encapsulate Christian Dior’s life

Christian Dior’s love for flowers was obvious throughout his life’s work and the house of Dior continues to respect this passion to this very day. Taking us behind the scenes, Dior’s latest video showcases the impeccable design and craftsmanship of the Rose des Vents collection created by Victoire de Castellane.

Castellane, Dior’s creative director for jewellery said of the collection, “I wanted to start from the idea of a little motif pendant. And what is more metaphorical than a medallion? A symbol of travel, in it you find echoes of Christian Dior’s star and the idea of the good-luck charm, but also the rose, his favourite flower. The whole history of the house is there, implicitly.”

A story within the jewels, Castellane refers back to Christian Dior’s childhood. Spent in Granville, France the villa he resided in was named Les Rhumbs, the name given to the thirtytwo divisions of the wind rose (the ‘rose des vents’ in French). The collection also has links to when Christian Dior discovered a star on the ground in Paris which he took as a sign from destiny and through this superstition it encouraged him to open up his own couture house. The final piece to the puzzle was his love for Dior’s love for travel from watching the boats at Granville, to travelling the world to present his collections.
