Why did Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas choose surrogacy? Bazaar Arabia investigates…

Priyanka Chopra And Nick Jonas are stepping into a new chapter of their lives, as they welcome the arrival of their first child. The new parents shared the exciting news on Instagram yesterday evening, both posting a text post and tagging each other within their respective captions.

“We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much,” it read.

TMZ reports that the baby girl was born in a hospital in Southern California, with other sources stating she had unexpectedly arrived 12 weeks early.

The 39-year-old actress (and Bazaar Arabia cover star) and 29-year-old musician have yet to share the baby’s name, exact date and time, or any information regarding their surrogate.

Why Did Priyanka Chopra And Nick Jonas Choose Surrogacy?

While there are many reasons that couples opt for a surrogate when trying to get pregnant, Priyanka and Nick could have had a very practical reason as to why they chose this particular option…

According to some sources, Priyanka and Nick opted to have their child via surrogate because of their busy schedules – which often meant they would be apart from one and other. An insider reportedly told the Daily Mail that their decision was not because the actress had fertility issues, but because they couldn’t find time to physically be together to “conceive when she is ovulating.”

The couple has yet to confirm whether or not this is true — therefore, we cannot be sure why they chose to go down the surrogate route.

And They Aren’t Alone…

Priyanka and Nick certainly aren’t the first celebrity couple to welcome a child via surrogate. Kim Kardashian and Kanye “Ye” West welcomed two of their four children, Chicago (born in 2018) and Psalm (born in 2019), via surrogate with other notable Hollywood A-Listers like Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, Jimmy Fallon and Nancy Juvonen Fallon and Tyra Banks having started their respective families with the help of science.
