L’Oréal Goes Green With Its New Sustainability Initiative
The company has officially announced big ambitions to achieve carbon neutrality by improving energy efficiency and using 100% renewable energy by 2025
Change is afoot as we see brands around the world adopting green initiatives to address the issues surrounding the beauty industry and sustainability – and one of the most well-known companies within the industry is taking a stance, pledging to address issues surrounding sustainability head on.
Tackling the environmental impact has always been at the forefront of L’Oréal’s plans. As the company has been in the business for over 100 years, it become aware of the need to respond to environmental challenges early on, beginning with its plants and distribution centers across the world.
The company recently revealed its latest set of ambitions for 2030, while also reinforcing its commitments to both sustainability and inclusion.
The programme includes three basic principles to transform L’Oréal’s business in order to ensure it respects planetary boundaries, empowers L’Oréal’s consumers for sustainable consumption choices and contributes to solving environmental challenges by sustainable initiatives – all through an unprecedented plan it launched earlier this year in May.
“L’Oréal’s sustainable revolution is entering a new era. The challenges the planet is facing are unprecedented, and it is essential to accelerate our efforts to preserve a safe operating space for humanity. We do so in our own business operations and in our contribution to the society at large,” chairman and CEO of L’Oréal Jean-Paul Agon said.
“As an industry leader, we consider that it is our role to contribute to building an inclusive and sustainable society,” L’Oréal chief corporate responsibility officer Alexandra Palt said.
As the beauty giant aims to transition to a way of operating its entire business in a sustainable way, the group has defined new quantifiable targets for 2030 by tackling the three core issues of preservation of biodiversity, sustainable water management and circular use of resources.
