Homegrown Hero Artal is Bringing Together The Best of Emirati Womenswear in a One-Stop Shop

The store caters to women whose sense of style resonates with the contemporary, yet traditional aesthetic represented in a manifold of eight local designers

Artal, an Emirati women’s fashion label, has just unveiled its first boutique at Aljada’s trendy, tree-lined East Boulevard in Sharjah. At the heart of the concept is the celebration of local talent as well as the idea of streamlining the experience of shopping for high-end modest dress. The store caters to women whose sense of style resonates with the contemporary, yet traditional aesthetic represented in a manifold of eight local designers. The lineup is nothing shy of a canvas for established talent and flourishing creatives, each of which embodies the essence of Emirati design: WaDubai, Basic Abaya, Takara, Shatha Essa, Pearla, Zahra Karmostaji, Dioraline and By Almuna can all be found at Artal.

The space itself feels pared back and sophisticated – striking a balance between sartorial heritage and the more modern hallmarks of inclusivity. And whilst each of the eight brands has commanded unique spins on the traditional Middle Eastern sartorial codes, they come together to form a close-knit matrix as a result of a like-minded appreciation for quality and craftsmanship.

The launch of the multi-brand fashion destination dedicated solely to Emirati fashion speaks to the growing relevance of the region’s home grown talent. Moreover, it attests to how broad the category of modest dress has become over the years and how today, places like Artal, appeal to an increasingly diverse clientele.
