Merino wool of this calibre is exceedingly rare, representing (a tiny) five per cent of global annual production within the 13.0–13.8 micron range. The fabric is so light (weighing in at just 350 grams per metre), only a handful of Loro Piana master artisans are trained in the labour-intensive job of combing and spinning the yarn before it is transformed into this season’s most-wanted wardrobe.
