The Ones To Watch: What To Do, See and Shop This February 2022
The colour of the season, a rap star with a message, and pleasure-fuelling footwear are just a few of the trends that have us talking this month
Dystopia-Core
We’re now in the third year of a global pandemic (as if you needed reminding) and just when we thought life was settling into a new normal, along comes Omicron to shatter our complacency. In true fashion form, brands have issued their resilient survival uniforms that are equipped to tackle this ‘new-world’. Matrix-style floor-length coats walked the runways, along with functional black cargo pants, and dark puffer coats that wrap us in a symbolic shield.

Do Look Up
The Italian food at Duomo in The Dubai Edition boutique hotel may be sublime but it’s the digital ceiling, reminiscent of Michelangelo’s astonishing Sistine Chapel in Rome, that will have you craning your neck skywards. The perfect spot for a romantic evening this month.

Zoomer Green
Or perhaps you want to call it Bottega Green. Either way, this colour of the future is packing a grassy punch, and nudging aside the millennial pink that’s dominated the colour charts in recent years. Like most Bottega Veneta accessories, this aptly named ‘Parakeet’ Cassette bag gets the green light from us.

Bright Side
There’s never a dull moment with Hermès who always bring optimism to the table or, on this occasion, to our soles with a rainbow of Oran sandal and loafers in buttery-soft suede goatskin.

New Sounds
Confessing her relatable struggles and anxieties have helped London-born rapper Little Simz’s latest album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert climb up the charts. It may be her fourth record but, as the lyrics from her lauded song Speed, explain: “Still running with ease, marathon, not sprint” – this inspirational woman is in it for the long haul.
