Galeries Lafayette Launches Exhibition As Homage To Beirut

The heartwarming show marks Belvedere Art Space’s first international display in the UAE

As a tribute to those who lost their lives to the tragic August 4 blasts in Beirut including co-founder of Beirut-based Belvedere Art Space, Houssam Al-Batal, Galeries Lafayette is home to ‘LOUD’ – Belvedere’s first international pop-up in the UAE.

The month-long exhibition is a testament to Lebanon’s resilience, demonstrating the positivity and hope entrenched in its people.

The featured works are characterised by bright colours that represent thoughts and emotion, comprising contemporary paintings, sculptures, wall sculptures and mixed media artworks.

The exhibition has brought together works from 13 established artists hailing from different parts of the world such as the USA, Canada, Norway, Ireland, Spain, Lebanon and Syria.

The selected international artists taking part include James Verbicky, Jonathan Paul, Lino Lago, Craig Alan, Charles Patrick, Poren Huanga, Derick Smith, Dylan Gebbia Richards, Hunt Slonem, Akil Ahmad, Ihab Ahmad and Christopher Florentino.

Galeries Lafayette’s commitment to art has been proven time and time again, as seen in past campaigns and launches such as Modern Expressions, Fann Ramadan and In the Bag. Most importantly, self-representation through creativity has been one of the core values of the French department store since inception.

The LOUD exhibition is on view at Galeries Lafayette in The Dubai Mall from 4 June until 4 July 2021.

“In memory of Houssam Al-Batal, one of Belvedere Art Space’s co-founders and visionaries who tragically lost his life in the August 4 Beirut Port Blast.”

Galeries Lafayette is located in The Dubai Mall.
