What To Expect From Art Basel’s Grand In-Person Comeback Later This Month
The annual art fair is returning to Basel from 24 to 26 September with global partner BMW
Physically taking place for the first time post pandemic, Art Basel is once again ready to shine with over 272 galleries from 33 countries participating at the event in Basel, Switzerland at the end of this month.
This edition will embrace a hybrid structure, bringing together Art Basel’s physical and digital platforms on a new scale. Art Basel Live, a digital initiative that debuted at Art Basel Hong Kong, will augment the on-site presentations in Basel, broadcasting the vitality and enthusiasm from the show floor to a worldwide audience through a digital program that includes online viewing rooms, virtual walk-throughs and social-media broadcasts.
Furthermore, Lawrence Abu Hamdan and Etel Adnan will be representing Sfeir-Semler Gallery from the Middle East region.
BMW is once again supporting the annual art fair, continuing their successful collaboration from previous years – celebrating the golden anniversary of BMW Group Cultural Exhibition with a virtual BMW Art Car Collection and strengthening their partnership for the past five decades.
“Congratulations to BMW Art and Culture from Messeplatz where we started Art Basel in 1970,” says Marc Spiegler, Global Director at Art Basel.
“We are looking forward to collaborating with BMW, especially on our joint initiative with the BMW Art Journey, which was created to enable emerging artists to undertake a creative journey to destinations of their choice, as we are both entering the sixth decade in promoting the visual arts.”
Art Basel will run from September 24 to 26 in Basel, Switzerland.
