Bold is the new black

At BAZAAR, we love to try new trends, especially experimenting with striking make-up looks. Therefore, in our quest to shortlist the must-try spring/summer beauty looks we’ve turned to legendary French makeup artist Tom Pecheux, who took us on a wonderfully bold journey during New York Fashion Week at Oscar de la Renta's spring/summer 2020 show.

Alongside the MAC Cosmetics team, Tom, concentrated on the eyes to create a two-toned extravagant eye to celebrate individuality and confidence. On the models' their lids were painted with two-tone strokes of vivid shadow using MAC Cosmetics solar color palette.

Commenting on the artistry Pecheux explained,“I wanted the craziness to be flattering. We focused on the eyes and played with duo colours. It’s like an extravagant cat eye. It’s not crazy for fashion, it’s crazy for regular people. It’s a bit crazy for Oscar.”

Watch to see how Tom curated the dramatic beauty moments...

Fancy recreating this look at home? Here's how...

Browtiful...

The brows were perfected with Shape and Shade Brow Tint and MAC eye shadows in shades that deepened the model’s natural tone for a bit of intensity, followed with Clear Brow Set to groom and set.

Lashes for days...

The lashes were curled and applied generously with Haute & Naughty Too Black Lash Mascara in three-to-four coats for a dramatic effect.

Firework lids...

A colourful, combination of matte shadows were customized for some models to elongate and frame the eye. Colours included Coral Reef and Mint Condition eye shadows from MAC Visual Arts along with Chrome Yellow eye shadow, and Bright Pink Powder Blush (Pro Palette Refill Pan) MAC Paintsticks were used beneath the shadows as a base to increase the saturation of colour on skin
