"When asked to co-create in collaboration with Nike, I wanted to create something simple that would perfectly summarize my fitness journey so far," says Lana El Sahely of the images she styled and directed for Nike. Shot in Beirut at 'La Magnanerie,' an old silk factory, Lana wanted the backdrop to by symbolic of the heritage of fashion and represent the role of sartorial progress and change in the region.
Partnering with women who inspire the next generation to use fitness and sport as a platform to showcase their individual strength and style, Lana is using her own voice to power the movement of a new fashionable fitness guard.

On her personal struggle with fitness:
"Growing up as a chubby teenager, confidence wasn't my strongest ally. However, there was this one thing that always pushed me further; my love for challenges. In everything I do, I Iike to try to overcome my own limits and set new ones. It's literally the quote I've always lived by and something I learnt from my mother. With time, I grew extremely fond of health and fitness and since then, every goal is followed by another."
On her greatest challenges and future health goals:
"I believe in more, I believe I can always challenge myself to give more. I could barely run for 15 mins straight at one point, today, I'm preparing a half marathon."
On creating a motif for her photoshoot:
"For this project, I wanted a monochrome look, reflecting on my dual facets, on the ability of today's mother to be strong yet cater to the rest of her family's needs. I chose to customize with my handwriting a pair of Nike white sneakers and a black top. I went for something minimal yet powerful in the message portrayed."
On her strength as an Arab woman:
"I am proud to be representing my region today to prove that we can bring a change to how women are perceived, to show that we also have the power to challenge ourselves, whether at home or at work and surpass the limits and expectations set by and upon us. Ethaddi nafssek, challenge yourself. More is never enough for me, stay thirsty."
