Sheikh Zayed Road Is Shutting Down And Turning Into A Running Track For The Day
The 14-lane highway will transform into a 5km and 10km running route
The Dubai Fitness Challenge is in full swing, and in true Dubai style, nothing is being done by half measures. Last weekend, Joe Wicks – also known as The Body Coach – hosted an outdoor workout, which saw thousands of participants take part in the intense 30-minute HIIT class, and Sheikh Hamdan has been spotted tackling a number of grueling workouts, from rope climbs to TRX.
But here to take the proverbial cake, Sheikh Zayed Road will be transforming into a running track on Friday 8 November. The entire 14-lane highway will instead invite contenders to participate in Dubai Run, which is comprised of a 5km and 10km for 18 years and older distance, with both routes starting and ending at Dubai World Trade Centre.
The free-to-attend event has the “aim of fostering a healthy community” and will give “participants a unique, on-foot perspective of iconic sights as they come together to demonstrate their commitment to an active lifestyle and DFC’s vision to make Dubai the most active city in the world.”
Registration is mandatory and can be done on PlatinumList.net.
