Charlotte Tilbury Is Dropping An Amal Clooney-Inspired Lipstick
Her new collection pays homage to trailblazing women and men
Could anything be more exciting than Charlotte Tilbury releasing 11 brand-new lipstick shades? As it happens, the answer is yes: Charlotte Tilbury releasing 11 brand-new lipstick shades, and each one pays tribute to a current cultural icon.
One of the new hues draws inspiration from our favourite British-Lebanese human rights lawyer. Aptly named Amazing Amal, the lipstick is an ‘elegant soft, berry pink’ in Tilbury’s Matte Revolution formula. Tilbury explained, “I wanted to create a soft elegant, berry-pink with the neutral-ness of warm berry, that can be used as a stain, or to add an enlivening pop of colour to any outfit.” The award-winning makeup artist has glammed up Amal for some pretty special occasions, including the barrister’s wedding to George Clooney, the royal wedding and last year’s Met Gala. I predict a sell-out.
From peachy pinks to statement reds, the other ten lipsticks honour actors, authors, singers, models (such as Olivia Palermo, Alessandra Ambrosio and Kylie Minogue) and even Tilbury’s mum, Patsy. Per Tilbury, they’re today’s “rule breakers, record makers and history shakers”.
The original Hot Lips collection launched in 2016 and celebrated iconic and empowering women – the likes of Salma Hayek, Liv Tyler, Cindy Crawford – and naturally, it was an instant success.
As with the original collection, Tilbury has promised to donate a portion of the sales to the charity Women for Women International. This time around, she’s pledged an astounding £1 million (Dhs4.6 million). And as if that wasn’t reason enough to grab yourself one, for the first time, there are five refillable, collectable cases available. The J.K. Magic case (inspired by J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series) appropriately features a mystical night sky and shooting stars.
Tilbury said in a statement, “When I created this range, I wanted to create a new colour world for everyone – looking for gaps in the colour spectrum and mixing the most nuanced, super flattering, super wearable shades! These shades have super powers, they look incredible on everyone! I always envision the colour and texture, and how they complement each other to make the shade even more unique and incredible.”
