With wedding planning back in full-swing, Nina Catt introduces the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia Bride – with a new message of hope
Looking back on my last two editor’s letters, there was a common thread of uncertainty that wove through the messages of both, caused by the globe-halting pandemic that we have all been touched by, one way or another. While always remaining hopeful that weddings would imminently return to ‘normal’, truthfully, I, like anybody else, simply could not predict what the future would hold – for weddings, or any kind of life plans for that matter.
This sentiment couldn’t be more apparent than when I spoke to Zahra, Ghida and Dima, three of the brides who so honestly shared the trials and tribulations they faced when their 2020 wedding plans heartbreakingly had to change, or be postponed. In Ghida’s case, three times. For these brides and their grooms, to say the run-up to their wedding days were difficult would be an understatement. But, it’s a testament to their devotion to each other that, I believe, has made their bonds even stronger, and has proved that in the end, love always wins. The extra wait, making saying ‘I do’ much more meaningful.
