Everything You Need To Know About Burberry’s New Reusable Face Masks

The British fashion house has officially launched its own version of 2020’s most popular accessory – and it contains a new form of antimicrobial technology

Wallet, keys, phone… and now the face mask. Four essential items we simply cannot leave the house without when running out every day errands. And while many of us have been actively seeking out chicer alternatives to the dreaded blue surgical mask throughout the past few weeks, looking stylish while still keeping one’s mouth and nose covered is a bit of a challenge.

The good news is British fashion house Burberry has just released a selection of face masks in its iconic check print, that contain special antimicrobial technology and Particle Filtration Efficiency (PFE) properties for an added layer of protection.

The protective vintage check cotton face masks come in Burberry’s iconic beige print, as well as a beautiful pale blue. They are sustainably produced from repurposed fabric and come with their own matching travel pouch (which is also treated with antimicrobial technology) just in case you find yourself on the move this year. And better yet, more colours are set to be released this autumn.

Not only is Burberry joining leading fashion brands such as Tory Burch and Rag & Bone in creating its own version of a reusable face masks, but a portion of mask sales will be donated to efforts supporting communities who have been hit hard by the virus.

Specifically, the contribution will go to the Burberry Foundation COVID-19 Community Fund operated by The Burberry Foundation which continues to provide PPE, as well as assistance, to food banks and global healthcare charities.

Since the beginning of the pandemic Burberry has continued to provide various forms of aid in the fight against the novel coronavirus.

Alongside the support from the foundation, earlier this year the fashion house made donations to vaccine research and food bank charities. The company repurposed its factory in Yorkshire, UK, to manufacture non-surgical gowns for medical and care workers, while also sourcing surgical masks through its global supply chain for hospitals, frontline workers and healthcare staff.

As of this current movement more than 160,000 pieces of PPE have been donated through this initiative, demonstrating the brands valued and continued efforts against the pandemic.
