Staying healthy during pregnancy is tricky even at the best of times, but even more so with the Covid-19 pandemic at large. That said, there’s no reason for alarm as a few simple healthcare steps can go a long way to keeping you and the baby safe. BAZAAR asked one of the leading OBGYNs in the UAE, Dr. Tazyeen Faisal, for her tips on staying healthy.
Keep your immune system strong
Take multivitamins regularly, and if you weren’t already taking them, add Vitamin C tablets to your regimen to maximize your immunity. Encourage your family members to take them too.
Wash your hands
The simplest advice remains the most effective: wash your hands frequently with soap and water, especially if you’ve been in public spaces.

Get plenty of sleep
Rest is important for the body, so make sure to sleep the full recommended 7-8 hours.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
Drink lots of water to prevent dehydration, and add more leafy greens to your diet for a health boost.

Maintain social distancing
Politely but firmly keep your distance from anyone who is showing symptoms of illness, and try to avoid crowded public areas.
Wear a mask
If it’s really necessary to go outside, it is essential to wear a mask at all times.

Work from home
Take advantage of the internet and conference calling apps to do your work from the safety and comfort of your couch.
Of course, while hygiene and general precautions can be very effective, if you are at all feeling ill or feel uncertain, it is best to contact your nearest medical professional.
