The Met Gala Has Been Postponed Indefinitely

Coronavirus fears have delayed fashion’s biggest celebration

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has announced that the annual Met Gala has been postponed indefinitely. Citing concerns about the coronavirus pandemic, the museum said they would remain closed throughout April as the CDC had issued advice that there should not be gatherings of over 50 people. The Gala was due to take place on May 4 and no new date has been scheduled yet.

The annual Met Gala is a high-profile event attended by celebrities from all over the world and is considered a hallmark fashion event. It is hosted by Anna Wintour at the Costume Institute in the Metropolitan Museum every year, drawing attention for its bold and dramatic fashion statements.

The Met Gala is not the only event to fall victim to Covid-19. Sporting, cultural and other large-scale events have been cancelled all around the world as authorities lock down public areas in an attempt to prevent the spread of the virus.
