In the latest update on the spreading Covid-19 pandemic, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, wife of Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau has tested positive for the coronavirus. After showing symptoms of a mild flu, the Canadian prime minister’s office said both Sophie Trudeau and her husband would remain in isolation for two weeks.

Trudeau is not the only head of state who has decided to work from home. A few hours after the announcement that Spain was going into lockdown for 15 days, the Spanish prime minister’s wife, Begoña Gómez, was found to have tested positive for Covid-19. An official statement said that Prime Minister Sanchez and his wife were to stay at their official residence.

Around the world, government officials are taking both public and personal safety measures to prevent the spread of the virus. Authorities including the WHO continue to remind everyone that maintaining hygiene is the best way to combat the disease, and that washing your hands is the most important step.
