Haute Couture Week, Day Three: Asymmetrical Designs and Avant Garde Dressing Take The Catwalk By Storm

Day Three of Haute Couture Week was a fascinating blend of reconstructed style and abstract inspirations

The Autumn/Winter 2024 Haute Couture Week shows continued on Wednesday, June 26, with regional talent Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad showcasing the essence of intricate artistry, while Balenciaga channelled the art of construction, and Viktor&Rolf presented the playfulness of their inner child.

Bazaar Arabia rounds up all the highlights from Haute Couture Week Day Three.

Balenciaga A/W 2024-2024 Haute Couture

Balenciaga tapped into the spirit of upcycling in its A/W 2024 Haute Couture collection. Renowned for his innovative use of material, creative director Demna presented an array of reconstructed garments: sweatpants and jeans reimagined as dresses, oversized T-shirts doubling as headgear, and a foil-like material artfully wrapped into a form-fitting gown. Classic black and white were prominent throughout the collection, along with unexpected pops of colour, feathers, and butterfly face masks, adding a playful twist to the house’s signature streetstyle aesthetic.

Viktor&Rolf A/W 2024-2024 Haute Couture

For Haute Couture A/W 2024-2025 Haute Couture, avant-garde fashion house Viktor&Rolf stayed true to its roots with a collection titled Haute Abstraction. The designs were weird and wonderful, incorporating elements of child’s play with geometric, boxy shapes, colour blocking, and clashing prints.
