Haute Couture Week, Day Two: Cascading Pearls And Daring Silhouettes

Day Two of Haute Couture Week saw maximalist accents take centre stage

Haute Couture Week is reaching its zenith and Day Two was an ode to the beauty of embellishments. Giorgio Armani paid tribute to the prestige of the pearl while Lebanese designer, Tony Ward, took us on a journey of nature and divinity. Here Bazaar Arabia rounds up all the highlights from Day Two.

Giorgio Armani Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2024

Pearls were abound in Giorgio Armani A/W 2024 Haute Couture collection. The Italian designer took the precious gemstone – usually reserved as an accompanying accessory – and produced a collection of show-stopping garments. Pearls in all sizes were dripping from gowns, jackets, tops and hats, while a myriad iridescent textures, from flowing silk to sequined ensembles, captured the lustrous essence of the pearl and the moon, and their shared symbolism of wisdom and love.

Chanel Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2024

For its Autumn/Winter 2024 collection, Chanel was inspired by the theatrics of the Opera. Taking place at the historic Palais Garnier in Paris, the baroque setting was reflected in the collection. The opening look was an Haute Couture opera cape, while traditional Chanel elements, including tweed twin-sets and bow adornments, were prominent fixtures within the collection. Embellishments also took centre-stage, with crystal-encrusted necklines, sequins, beads, and pearlescent details, matching the opulence of the show’s location.

Tony Ward Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2024

For his A/W 2024 showcase, Tony Ward paid homage to the magic and artistry that’s created by needle and thread. Inspired by nature, each garment was a showcase of exquisite artistry, featuring majestic layering, pleated silhouettes, and 3D pops of flowers and feathers.

Saudi star, Nada Baeshen, supported regional talent by wearing a daring one-piece from the designer. She paired the look with an extravagant floral jacket featuring a tapestry of petals and beads.

Stephane Rolland Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2024

Stephane Rolland’s artful collection was a haute couture take on monochromatic minimalism. The garments were daring yet subdued, elevated through striking silhouettes and daring designs.
