In an interview with the Khaleej Times, the renowned artist said “My work is for the future.” The calligrapher continued to say “It is important to send something to the future that your children or your grandchildren can enjoy. When children are proud of you, that grows with them. I want to encourage all parents to use their children to spread good ideologies to the future.”
The Dubai Calligraphy Biennale has embarked on its 11th edition running for the month of October. It is under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai.
An array of creatives take part in this event illustrating a variety of cultures and the art of calligraphy which is deeply embedded into Arab history. The Calligraphy Biennale has spread across the city providing individuals the opportunity to immerse themselves into the art world. Exciting projects have been launched such as Lebanese artists, Ahmad Makary’s works spread over three public parks in Dubai. This project is part of the Biennale and in line with Dubai’s Public Art Strategy.
