Actress, print model and now artist… Sophia The Robot boasts many talents.

According to Reuters, the world’s first humanoid robot (and citizen of Saudi Arabia) has just sold her digital self-portrait painting in the form of a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) for over 2.5 million dirhams ($688,000), as she makes her debut into the art world.

CNN reports that Sophia joined forces with artist and blockchain investment firm partner Andrea Bonaceto to create her own interpretation of herself. Andrea first supplied her with a colour portrait that he painted of her, before she created her own interpretation.

Powered by blockchain, NFTs have been taking the art world by storm recently as they provide an encrypted digital signature determining ownership of a virutal artworks.

While she’s only a few years old, Sophia has accomplished quite a lot in the short period of time she’s been on the planet. Having visited over 65 countries, gone on a date with Will Smith and spoken at the United Nations, she was interviewed on stage by Harper’s Bazaar Arabia’s Olivia Phillips at Bazaar Capsule and has appeared on the pages of the print magazine.
