A Modern Fairy-Tale: Inside Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s Dreamy Wedding Weekend
The actress gave her fans a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes of her big day on her newsletter, OnTheJlo – Bazaar Arabia shares the details here….
“This is heaven. Right Here. We’re in it now.”
That’s what Ben Affleck said during his speech in his wedding reception with Jennifer Lopez. According to the newly-released photographs and information about the smashing weekend shared by the bride, he wasn’t wrong.
The latest newsletter from the actress’s blog, OnTheJLo.com, is a tell-all post about what exactly went down on Ben’s 87-acre private estate on Hampton Island Preserve in Georgia as family, friends and loved ones gathered to witness the union of the couple.
The pair got married on August 20, 2022 in a grand, all-white ceremony that looked like something out of a movie. Jennifer donned three gorgeous custom-made creations by Ralph Lauren for her nuptials but that is just the tip of this wedding-goals iceberg.
Bazaar Arabia is sharing a rundown of all the highlights from the three-day-long affair.
A Marriage Miracle
According to the newsletter, the days leading up to the Jennifer’s walk down the aisle were rocky, with heavy rains, lightning and thunder descending upon the venue every day at sunset, the time when the ceremony was scheduled to begin on the wedding day. Besides the rains and the heat, the family caught a stomach bug and were in the process of recovering from it.
Although all these things went wrong, the morning of the wedding day saw the sky clearing up and the sun coming out to reveal a beautiful blue sky, and the good weather continued throughout the rest of the event.
“As the sun set behind the live oaks draped in Spanish moss, a warm breeze swept over the lawn where our closest family and friends sat and, at long-last, I started my walk down the stairs that would become the aisle that would lead me toward the rest of my life,” Jennifer wrote in the newsletter.
The Wedding Song
Jennifer and Ben’s song of choice was “True Companion'” by Marc Cohn, a sentimental song with deep meaning for the couple. As requested by Jennifer, the singer agreed to make an appearance at the ceremony and sing it live for Ben, something her new hubby was unaware of.
Originally planning on just that one song, the pair was in for another surprise, as “The Things We’ve Handed Down” was sung by Marc as their children walked down the aisle before Jennifer.
“A song about the wonderful mystery of children — something we could only guess at back then, but it was the perfect choice as our five children preceded me on the walk,” she wrote. “We weren’t only marrying one another; we were marrying these children into a new family. They were the only people we asked to stand up for us in our wedding party. To our great honor and joy, each one did.”
After the first song was over, “True Companion” accompanied the bride on her journey to the altar.
The Morning After
The day after the wedding festivities saw the party join the newlyweds for a lavish brunch by the lake, complete with a blue and white theme and delicious food. Jennifer mentioned in the newsletter that she designed all the decor herself, and the theme she was going for was “down-home, rusty country-chic”.
