Lebanese pop singer, actress, and television personality Maya Diab caused a buzz on Twitter yesterday when she commented on famous actors Nelly Karim and Dina El Sherbiny’s latest Ramadan releases.
The social media sensation opens up about her love for ‘Faten Amal Harby,’ a series that was released earlier this month. The Egyptian TV show is about Faten, a real estate agent that undergoes several marital issues, struggles of being a single mom, and the process of separation. Starring Nelly Karim, Faten Amal Harby is undoubtedly one of the most loved series this Ramadan.

The former Harper’s Bazaar Arabia cover star tweeted, “#Faten_Amal_Harby is not just a show, but its also a bunch of cases that Arab women and Egyptian women have been facing for years … society’s view about a divorced woman, stolen rights, misogyny, unfair laws, and if she was to try and claim her basic rights, she would get attacked .. #Nelly_Karim I salute your exceptionality and feeling that was able to deliver the show in the finest way.”

It seems like Maya is a fan of Egyptian TV series, as she also tweeted about another popular series “The Journey” (Al Mishwar). The show revolves around Maher; a businessman forced to flee his home with his wife and son to avoid revealing his big secret.
