A number of A-listers were noticeably absent from yesterday’s Golden Globe awards red carpet – which, naturally, led to speculation as to why they would skip out on such an important night in film and television.
Rihanna, Zendaya, Cate Blanchett, Amanda Seyfried and Taylor Swift all sat out the first major event of 2023’s awards season, although Riri eventually did make an appearance at the event – dressed in a vampy, velvet Schiaparelli gown paired with Giuseppe Zanotti shoes and matching Roger Vivier clutch; Zendaya, Cate and Amanda were nowhere to be found… along with Taylor.
Whilst Amanda is reportedly preparing for a musical (dubbed the “Mystery Musical” by some publications) and both Zendaya and Cate had other work-related commitments, Taylor’s absence was, well, inexplainable.
Zendaya shared a post on Instagram, explaining how she was “so sorry” to have missed the event.
“I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to be there tonight, but I just wanted to say thank you to @goldenglobes for this incredible honor,” she wrote in the caption of the post. “To my fellow nominees, it is a privilege to be named beside you, I admire you all deeply. Thank you to my Euphoria family, without you, none of this is possible. Lastly, thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has allowed Rue into theirs. I think everyone knows how much she means to me, but the fact that she can mean something to someone else is a gift. I’m honestly at a loss for words as I type this, all I can say is thank you thank you thank you. Goodnight”
So… Why Did Taylor Swift Skip The 2023 Golden Globes?
The “Anti-Hero” singer – who’s currently promoting her new album, Midnight – has yet to comment publicly as to why she didn’t attend the awards ceremony – and it’s been Radio Silence on her Instagram.
Taylor was nominated for Best Original Song for “Carolina,” her single from Where the Crawdads Sing, which is perhaps why her fans are curious to know her reason behind foregoing the event. Naturally, they took to social media to express their thoughts and feelings about her absence at the 2023 Golden Globes…
