
Fit For A Queen: Imelda Staunton Joins The Cast of Netflix’s The Crown
The streaming platform has released the first photo from the next season of the award-winning series; here’s everything you need to know about the British actress who will be starring in the lead role of Queen Elizabeth II
There’s no doubt about it: Netflix’s The Crown has us captivated with its intriguing plot line, award-winning acting performances and, of course, superb costumes, authentic to the era of each season.
While the fifth season is stated to premiere in 2022, Netflix has released the first look the new Queen Elizabeth II played by Imelda Staunton; this 65-year-old actress will follow in the footsteps of Claire Foy and Olivia Colman, starring in the lead role as the series moves into its final stages.
Imelda has previously charmed us with her incredible acting abilities with her work in mega-hit films such as Shakespeare in Love, The Awakening and Downton Abbey.

Furthermore, it is reported that filming for the next season began earlier this month – however, it is confirmed firmly that the production is in full-swing with the image shared by Netflix.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the new cast for the coming season with Lesley Manville playing the role of Princess Margaret, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip and Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana – this impressive cast is set to keep us all glued to our screens until after the new season premieres.
Season Six will be the series’ last; therefore, Imelda’s reign for the next two seasons is unquestionably anticipated. While all fans (including us) are eager to know more about the show, this all we know for now! However, check-in back for more information.
