From Amr Diab to Yousra, Celebrities Pay Tribute to Samir Ghanem
The iconic Egyptian comedian passed away from Covid a few days ago; here’s how some of the biggest Arab celebrities paid tribute to his legacy…
Egyptian comedian, actor, and singer Samir Ghanem passed away at the age of 84 last week due to Covid-related causes; he carries an incredible legacy spanning 60 years which includes over 150 films, 60 television series and 40 stage plays, which is sure to live on through the hearts he touched.
He and his family — Dalal Abdel Aziz, Donia and Amy Samir Ghanem — all tested positive in April. Ghanem and his wife were admitted to a Cairo hospital late last month due to their critical conditions, said Donia’s husband. His wife is currently undergoing treatment with no updates on her medical condition.
Mourning with great sadness the death of this icon includes the Egyptian President who posted to Facebook, “He was the best model for the artist who lived to spread joy and make everyone happy.”
The comedian was also loved and respected by many within the entertainment industry. Here, Bazaar shares a list of a few celebrities who paid tribute to the Egyptian icon by posting condolences and sharing their respects across social media.

Egyptian Actor, Adel Emam, who co-starred with Ghanem in many movies from 1985 onwards, shared two posts on Instagram, one of them from the age of black and white TV, where he bids farewells to his long-time friend and colleague.
Hussain Al Jassmi, Emirati singer and composer gives his condolences by writing, “Farewell, to the one who created many smiles”.
Egyptian Actress Yousra wrote that she is truly heartbroken by the incident, sharing a production still from one of their television shows together with her followers.
Mohamed Ramadan, Egyptian Actor and Singer, posts a clip from one of Ghanem’s previous interviews and writes that the industry has lost one of its most iconic comedians, one that he personally looks up to.
Hend Sabry, Tunisian-Egyptian Actress gives her condolences to Ghanem’s family and in-laws. She writes that he was one of the only people that brightened her bad days and will always be considered a dear family member to her.
Ragheb Alama, Lebanese Television personality, posts an image with Ghanem and his eldest daughter Donia Samir Ghanem. He pays ode to Ghanem’s admirable career achievements and wishes his family patience and health.
