Exclusive: Ivanka Trump Records A Message Dedicated To Middle Eastern Women During Her UAE Trip
Shortly after giving her keynote speech to an audience that included His Highness Sheikh Mohammed at the Global Women’s Conference in Dubai, Ivanka Trump recorded an exclusive video for us, addressing the USA and UAE’s combined efforts to empower women globally
Hosted by Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed al Maktoum and the Dubai Women’s Establishment, yesterday’s Global Women’s Forum in Dubai saw Ivanka Trump take to the stage as a keynote speaker, celebrating just over a year since she launched the Global Women’s Development and Prosperity Initiative.
In Dubai to discuss policy opportunities for supporting female entrepreneurs, as well as meet with leading Emiratis, the Advisor to the President recorded an exclusive message for us, addressed to the women of the Middle East and beyond.
“Last year, more than 70 per cent of Emirati university graduates were women. Yet only 10 per cent of the UAE’s total national income is driven by women – we hope to see that number grow much higher,” she said in her speech on Sunday.
“Progress builds upon progress. I want to congratulate five other countries in the Middle East and Northern Africa Region for instituting significant reforms over the past two years. Saudi Arabia has changed laws to respect women’s freedom of movement and access to credit and financial services. Bahrain introduced legislation to prevent discrimination in the workplace. Jordan eliminated legal restrictions on women’s ability to work at night. Morocco expanded women’s land rights. And Tunisia introduced laws to combat domestic violence. We applaud these advancements.
Yet, we know that there is still much more work to be done. Too many women continue to face obstacles to entering the workforce, starting their own businesses, reaching their full potential, and charting their own future.”
