Kate Upton Calls The Victoria’s Secret Show Out For Lack Of Body Inclusivity Saying It’s A “Snoozefest”

The model was once told in 2012 that Victoria’s Secret would “never use her” because “she looks like a footballer’s wife”

Kate Upton, who made a name for herself in the fashion industry and one of the first plus-sized models, branded the Victoria’s Secret catwalk show a “snoozefest” on account of its lack of body inclusivity.

The 27-year-old mother-of-one appeared on the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to share her thoughts on the annual lingerie show, which is known for promoting petite women.

“You know what, we’re sick of seeing the same body type,” Upton said in the interview. “You have to be body inclusive now. Every woman needs to be represented. Otherwise it’s a snoozefest.”

The model was infamously dissed by Victoria’s Secret casting director Sophia Neophitou back in 2012, when she said she “would never use her” because “she’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy.”

Upton went on to talk about normalising body images. During Watch What Happens Live, a viewer called in to ask Upton what the most empowering part of her recent Health cover, in which the model appeared without any retouching for the first time, was. Upton replied, “It was a really hard decision to make because it was just months after I gave birth to my baby girl, but I thought it was really important because we’re surrounded by so much retouching and filters on social media and we’ve kind of lost touch of what’s real and what’s not. For me this was a big step towards being real and put out a good image of real expectations of what it’s like after birth.”
