Tickets will only be available for purchase on the museum’s website and guests under the age of 18 can visit for free
From June 24 onwards, museum-goers will once again be able to visit Louvre Abu Dhabi and can experience the latest international exhibition, Furusiyya: The Art of Chivalry between East and West. The exhibition will reopen on July 1 to the public and has been extended to October 18.
Admission for children and young adults under the age of 18 is free, as part of the museum’s mission to further engage younger audiences and families.
“We look forward to giving our museum back to the community and resuming our physical role as a space for sharing our many stories of cultural connections. As we prepare to reopen, we are furthering our commitment to being a mindful museum – a concept that has always been a part of our DNA and is now more urgent than ever before,” Director of Louvre Abu Dhabi Manuel Rabaté said.
“We have planned carefully and methodically alongside the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi to ensure that the appropriate health and safety measures are in place. I want to thank our dedicated staff for their resilience and hard work to prepare for this moment. We are eager and excited to welcome back visitors soon.”
The museum will be taking a number of new health and safety precautions, in order to ensure both a safe and comfortable experience for guests.
These new measures include…
- Revised opening hours (10:00 – 18:30, Tues-Sun). Last museum entry will be 17:30.
- A limited number of visitors per hour to allow for social distancing
- Tickets will only be available to purchase via Louvre Abu Dhabi’s website and must be booked for a specific arrival time slot. Once at the museum, visitors may stay for up to three hours
- Thermal temperature scanning of all visitors will be mandatory upon arrival
- Masks and gloves will be required for all visitors throughout their stay at the museum
- Only credit card or smart payments will be allowed throughout the museum, including when purchasing from food and beverage sites and the boutique
According to Arabian Business “Both the Qasr Al Hosn and Louvre Abu Dhabi are among the first public museums and cultural sites that are set to re-open in the UAE’s capital . . . along with the Al Jahili Fort, Al Ain Palace Museum and Qasr Al Muwaiji.”
