Queen Elizabeth Wears Seven Different Outfits On Christmas Day Each Year
Her Majesty is proving to be quite the stylish monarch
Angela Kelly, official royal dressmaker and Queen Elizabeth’s right hand woman since 2002, has revelead yet another fascinating secret regarding Her Majesty’s iconic wardrobe.
In her new book, The Other Side of the Coin, documenting years worth of unique anecdotes from working with the Queen and the friendship they’ve developed since, Kelly explains that the Queen is pretty fashionably busy during the festive season, per reports by People.
“I lay out sketches of evening dresses for the Queen to look through and choose what she would like to wear that evening and, occasionally, she may have to pick out a dress for a cocktail party.” Kelly writes.
“There may be several outfit changes in one day – it could be as many as five or even up to seven.”
And because clashing with the Queen on Christmas Day would be the last thing anyone would want, extensive planning goes into how the rest of the Palace is expected to dress accordingly for the occasion.
“Once Her Majesty has chosen her dress for dinner, a handwritten notice is pinned up in the Dressers’ Corridor detailing what she will be wearing, so that the Queen’s ladies’ maids can select an appropriate dress for the lady they are looking after,” Kelly explains.
According to Kelly’s expertise and wisdom, “the Queen is just as busy as she would be in London, with more guests to entertain,” during the festive period, making it necessary to plan so many immaculate outfits.
