It’s the newest entertainment district Palm Jumeirah-dwellers have been waiting to step their Hermès Orans onto, and with new restaurants popping-up along the sandy shoreline of Palm West Beach in true Dubai-style at the blink of an eye, I couldn’t wait for the soaring summer temperature to ease to check out homegrown Beirut dining concept, February 30.
The date that never was, February 30 is positioned on the beach with phenomenal views across the water to the illustrious Dubai Marina, Jumeriah Beach Residences and Bluewaters Island – all of which glisten under the mesmerising sunset at golden hour, reminding us just how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful part of the world.


While the ambience has no doubt been meticulously curated to transport diners away from the hustle and bustle of the city, at February 30 the devil is in the detail; a bohemian-meets-Miami vibe, décor is most definitely pleasing on the eye.
Retro red and monochromatic finishes intertwine with lush-green palm trees, while wooden loungers with candy-striped cushions line the lapping water’s edge, lulling guests to kick-back and let winter’s welcome breeze seduce the skin.
Plush low-level seating where you can’t help but slip your shoes off to dig your toes into the sand is my jam, and that’s precisely how I, and most of the visitors I spotted spent their evening.

The vision of renowned Chef and Restaurateur, Reif Othman, February 30’s culinary offering delivers an elevated experience of contemporary cuisine inspired by signature dishes from the Mediterranean and Japan. Serving a variety of sushi, sashimi and uramaki rolls, seafood sits beside tacos, pizzas, pasta and risotto. It’s also worth noting that vegan and vegetarian friends are taken care of which is always music to my ears.


While I was full to the brim thanks to a second serving of avocado and cucumber rolls, my fellow diners indulged on a selection of desserts, unapologetically declaring the baklava cheesecake and crêpes suzettes as “to die for”.
At February 30 it is all about effortlessly kicking back with a recommendation from the resident mixologist while the sweet smell of strawberry shisha wafts through the air, a soundtrack of House music tantalises the ears and the pulse of the imagination truly takes over, ensuing that ‘not a care in the world’ feeling, if only just for the night.
