Why is a Must-Try Sagetsu For All Dubai Foodies

Culinary excellence is found in fresh ingredients, French techniques and traditional Japanese-inspired cuisine – and it’s been brought to town by one of Australia’s most accomplished chefs: Tetsuya Wakuda

There are few dining experiences in Dubai that truly leave you in awe. While the city’s culinary offerings have grown exponentially in recent years, skyrocketing the Emirate into a must-visit destination for any seasoned foodie, while also welcoming the likes of renowned guides like Gault&Millau, there are plenty of hotspot eateries that rely heavily on performance in order to mask mediocre tastes.

Sagetsu by Tetsuya Wakuda, located on Level 24 of The Link at One&Only One Za’abeel, is not one of them. Here, you’ll be hard-pressed to find gold-covered wagyu steak or smoking desserts (unless there a purpose for it, of course). The ethos behind the menu is clear: it’s all about the ingredients. Think Japanese omakase-style dining meets haute cuisine; dishes cooked, crafted and served entirely à la francaise.

Upon arrival guests are treated to breath-taking views of the city skyline. As you make their way into the dining area, passing the open kitchen and bar crafted from natural rock, the astrological influence on the space is evident. The restaurant’s name is derived from a blend of the Japanese words for “sand” and “moon.” From bamboo and wood décor to stone-inspired flatware highlighting the beauty of mother nature seems to be a concurrent theme throughout the space, right down to the presentation of each course.

Those who are well versed with fusion flavours will certainly be blown away by Sagetsu’s brilliant tasting menus. From marinated Botan shrimp with fresh uni, presented with Oscietra caviar inside an urchin shell, to steamed Alaskan King Crab in a yuzu-tarragon vinaigrette, each course decadent without being overwhelming. You’ll have room for dessert (be sure not to skip it!) The Chocolate Mousse is the perfect finale to – what will surely become – a culinary highlight for both experienced foodies and those with a novice palate.

Tasting menu prices at Sagetsu by Tetsuya Wakuda start at 800dhs. For more information visit or to book a reservation visit thelinkdubai.com
