America’s Got Talent Crowns Lebanese Dance Troupe Mayyas As Winners of Season 17
The group just bagged one million dollars and a headline show at Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas
The finale of Season 17 of popular talent show America’s Got Talent took place in Pasadena on Wednesday, September 14. The all-female Lebanese dance troupe Mayyas was announced the winner for this season. The decision came as no surprise to the audience, with the highly-talented group’s jaw-dropping performances and consistency.
Founded by Lebanese dancer and choreographer Nadim Cherfan, the group is made up of 30 stunning performers and has competed on several such talent shows in the past, including Arab’s Got Talent, which they won, and Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions.
On America’s Got Talent, Nadim’s dance crew received the Golden Buzzer, a badge of honour eyed by all those who come to audition on the platform, from judge Sofia Vergara and went straight through to the live shows where they knocked each performance out of the park. They eventually beat country trio Chapel Hart, saxophonist Avery Dixon, AI act Metaphysic, teen Polish singer Sara James and Australian pole dancer Kristy Sellars for the top spot.
“This is what a million dollar act looks like”

The complex choreography for the grand finale performance did not fail to stun both jury and the audience. Fabulous feathered fans were used to create a giant pulsating dress and light orbs created visions of a whimsical galaxy full of stars.
The troupe is taking home a million dollars, the opportunity to headline a show in Las Vegas and a coveted place in AGT history, being the first act from the Middle East to win the prize and only the third non-American one.
