10 Arabic Series On Netflix We Can’t Stop Watching This Winter

From The Exchange to Paranormal, Bazaar Arabia shares some of the best series in Netflix to indulge in this holiday season

From Al Rawabi School for Girls to Jinn, here are the 10 Arabic series on Netflix we can’t stop watching this winter.

With the holiday season around the corner, we have compiled binge-worthy shows to keep you occupied with your friends and family. Here, Bazaar Arabia shares 10 of our favourite Arabic series on Netflix to stream this winter.

Al Rawabi School for Girls 

The social hierarchy of high school can be overwhelming, chaotic and at times toxic. Watch as the bullied victims take matters into their own hands with extensive plans to return the favour to their bullies. The Drama series uniquely depicts the cultural and social shocks young girls experience in high school. The thrilling drama series is Tima Shomali.

Al Hayba 

Al Hayba is a Drama series and is also the name of a small place found on the borders connecting Syria and Lebanon. An Arab clan that goes by the name of ‘Sheikh Al Jabal’ has claimed possession over smuggling routes across the same border. Another powerful clan that goes by the name of ‘Saeed Clan’ also reside in Al Hayba and have a longstanding rivalry with the Sheik Al Jabal clan. Watch as the leader of the Jabal clan balances this intense rivalry with his family affairs.

Paranormal 

Netflix began expanding production in the middle east in a thrilling fashion with the release of Paranormal, a supernatural drama series. A hemotologist by the name of Dr Refaat Ismail is faced with a string of skin-crawling experiences as he steps foot inside the world of paranoia. The series creates suspense as Dr Refaat Ismail strives to keep his loved ones safe.

Finding Ola

Netflix has confirmed the second season of its popular Arabic series following the first season’s massive success. Praised for its exploration of womanhood, family dynamics, and societal issues, the show, a sequel to “Ayza Atgawez” (I Want to Get Married), continues its insightful portrayal of these themes. Viewers can anticipate an engaging journey with protagonist Ola, delving into the complexities of motherhood, life, and relationships against the backdrop of modern Egypt

Juman

Similar to Romeo & Juliet, Juman and Hisham find themselves in a love bubble. And despite the demands of their respective families, the couple decides to get married, disregarding the objections made by their so-called loved ones. The couple faces hardships as their marriage intertwines with the pressures of society. Khaled Jamal directs the love drama show.

Jinn 

Released in 2019, the supernatural drama series is directed by Mir-Jean Bou Chaaya and Amin Matalqa. The story unfolds when an innocent high school trip to the ancient city of Petra leads to a spiral of supernatural events when two jinns are released into the human world. This change affected the high school’s dynamic as students’ lives were at risk.

Newton’s Cradle (Le’bet Newton)

This middle eastern Drama series revolves around a couple, a turbulent relationship hanging by a thread, that decide to go on a high-stakes journey to the United States, which can lead to severe consequences should things go south. Written and directed by Tamer Mohsen, the first season has 30 episodes of thrill, excitement and suspense for your entertainment.

The Exchange

Set in the 80’s, the story follows two women as they venture into the male dominated Kuwaiti Stock Exchange, in an effort of financial liberation and self determination after a divorce. Infiltrating the boys club and finding moments of comedy within their struggle against the patriarchy, and facing a system that never expect them to be bold enough to try.

Partially based on a true story, it a truly inspirational, and very easily binge-able series.

The Platform

In the midst of a brewing conflict, brilliant programmer Karam El Sayed, disillusioned by humanity’s distorted reality, partners with Naseer to create an Artificial Intelligence portal, The Platform, in Abu Dhabi. Their tool becomes globally renowned for truth-seeking. Just as Karam finds freedom, his family faces strife. He embarks on a mission to rescue his brother Adam from a dangerous group. The programmers must risk everything, uncovering secrets, and be hero’s beyond their computers.

Kathaba Abril (April Fool’s)

This newest release to the platform is the story of a Martiarch following the death of her husband, discovering secrets and core truths of her life that she was disillusioned to- shattering her image of her perfect life, and changing her forever. Navigating grief, change, and truth.
