American author Jessica Knoll’s acclaimed book ‘Luckiest Girl Alive’ is getting the movie makeover and none other than Mila Kunis is starring as the heroine of this not-so-lucky tale of skeletons in one tightly sealed closet that come out – for the worse.
Playing New York City journalist Ani Fanelli with a shiny career at a reputed magazine and a dreamy wedding on the horizon, Mila will take viewers on a thrilling journey through one woman’s carefully constructed world and how that house of cards comes crashing down.
A series of horrifying incidents that occur in Ani’s high school life cause her to completely reinvent herself in adulthood. But a sequence of events in the present will compel her to confront her tucked-away demons and question whether she can ever truly escape her past.
The highly-anticipated film has been directed by Mike Barker with a screenplay provided by Jessica herself and produced by Reese Witherspoon. Alongside Mila, it also stars fellow American artists Finn Wittrock, playing Mila’s on-screen fiancé, Scoot McNairy and Jennifer Beals.
The trailer for the movie, which dropped yesterday, is generating buzz among netizens, who are speculating about all the natural questions that come with a book-to-movie adaptation.
