
Actor Kabir Bedi Received A Lifetime Achievement Award At The 79th Venice Film Festival

Kabir Bedi, one of the first Indian actors to ever work in the Hollywood film industry has been honoured with the Filming Italy Movie Lifetime Achievement Award. As part of an initiative by the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual (DGCA) of the Italian Ministry of Culture (MiC), the seventy-six-year-old actor accepted the title at the Venice Film Festival 2022 this weekend.
According to Variety, the actor’s career was kick started by Sandokan, an Italian six-part series that was filmed and produced in the 1970s, in which he portrayed a dashing pirate hero fighting British colonizers. Ever since then the actor has been part of six major series in Italy that were all truly hits.
Additionally, Kabir was also one of the first Indian artists to star in worldwide renowned Hollywood productions such as James Bond 007 – Octopussy, the Bold And The Beautiful, The Thief Of Baghdad and Dynasty. His Bollywood successes include films such as Khoon Bhaari Maang, Ishk Ishk Ishk and Nagin.
During his acceptance speech, Kabir says “I have tried for many years to make people in Italy focus on India, and people in India focus on Italy.” His lifework is the living proof for his endeavors.
