“We Must’ve Drank Five Litres of Seawater”: Nour AlGhandour Shares Crazy Moments During The Filming of Honeymoonish
From commonalities with her character to her thoughts Netflix’s dedication to supporting Arab cinema, the actress shares filming highlights with Bazaar Arabia here…
As the anticipation for Elie El Semaan’s latest rom-com, Honeymoonish, continues to build, audiences eagerly await the chance to unwind and immerse themselves in its lighthearted story woven with affection, humour, and the complexities of modern Arab marriages.
Scheduled for release on Netflix, the film boasts a stellar cast from the region, including the talented Egyptian actress Nour AlGhandour alongside Kuwaiti influencer Ascia Al Faraj, and esteemed Kuwaiti actor Mahmoud Boushahri.
While Ascia began her cinematic journey with this project, Nour brings her wealth of experience to the screen, infusing her character with the charm she’s most known for.
Speaking to Bazaar Arabia, the actress shared her experience playing the leading lady in the film and how the project is going to give global audiences a glimpse inside the world of Khaleeji cinema.

HBA: Your character in the movie is very passionate and knows what she wants. How was it playing her?
Nour AlGhandour (NA): Noor is a very passionate character. She’s very practical, but also very emotional at the same time, and I’d even say she’s kind of crazy. I’m waiting for everyone to tell me their opinion once they’ve watched the movie.
HBA: The wardrobe was carefully picked for the film. What did you think about the fashion?
(NA): Yes, it was a big part of the movie. Noor, as a character, looks like me in real life. I prefer wearing flip-flops all the time instead of wearing heels. I prefer not to wear make-up at all. So actually, we’re quite alike.

HBA: Being part of Arabic cinematic community for a long time, what do you think about this movie coming out on an international platform such as Netflix?
(NA): It’s a very good step for us as actors and also for the production team. They trusted us to start working on Arabic movies and put them on such a big platform such as Netflix. Now people from everywhere will get to watch our stories, listen to our accents, and see our culture and society.
HBA: What was the most memorable moment during the filming process?
Mahmoud and I had to film a scene involving us jumping into the sea and we had to film it for a couple of hours. The sun was shining right on us and we must’ve drank maybe five litres of seawater that day – it was crazy.
