Starring Cailee Spaeny and Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi, the Sofia Coppola-directed film portrays the life of Elvis from the perception of his greatest muse and love interest

In recent years, the world has witnessed a remarkable resurgence of Elvis-mania. This gained momentum with the highly anticipated release of Baz Luhrmann’s celebrated Elvis biopic in 2022, which grossed $288 million (Aed1,057,825,440) worldwide and earned eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Austin Butler. This year, Sophia Coppola, Director of projects such as Marie Antoinette, and Lost in Translation, takes on the story of Priscilla Presley, produced by A24.
The movie is based on the 1985 autobiography, Elvis and Me by Priscilla and explores her roller-coaster life and marriage with the king of Rock and Roll, and arguably one of the most famous figures of the 20th century, Elvis Presley. The pair met when Priscilla was just 14 years old and divorced after 8 years of marriage in 1973. The book chronicles Priscilla’s life between the ages of 14 and 27, living in Graceland, the birth of her daughter Lisa Marie, and Elvis’s fame from her perspective.
The film premiered at the prestigious Venice Film Festival, offering audiences an initial glimpse into Cailee Spaeny’s portrayal of Priscilla, opposite Jacob Elordi as Elvis, reviving rave reviews from critics, as well as brining Priscilla herself to tears during the applause.
The director herself revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that she especially connected to Priscilla’s story saying, “I know from my family what it’s like to be inside a show business family,”. The Director’s name is seldom mentioned without her father and filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, who famously directed the Godfather trilogy.
Meanwhile, Sophia has been treating her followers to breathtaking behind-the-scenes photographs on her personal Instagram account. True to her signature style, “Priscilla” promises to be a visual spectacle, captivating audiences with its stunning cinematography and aesthetic brilliance. Paying homage to the era, and the couples iconic personal style, making it a visual treat for fashion enthusiasts.

With the international release date of November 2 looming, there is currently no information about a regional launch.
