With their inaugural line celebrating the artistry of Guatemala, home decor brand Story of Source aims to sustain the indigenous craftsmanship of a variety of developing countries by allowing artisans to set prices and introducing goods to new, international markets.
Their vivid and optimistic products range from intricate rugs and bag straps, to bedding and cushions in a variety of traditional patterns, easily adding boho-chic flair. Made to order, all products are produced using plant-based dyes and natural materials.
Operating entirely online, the brand offers several customisation services, such as ‘Design Your Own’, where customers can create a handcrafted textile, tailored to their personal style.
Story of Source also offers a reupholstery service, where the team works closely with clients to redesign existing furniture pieces, in a nod to slower consumption.
While all products are currently made by Guatemalan artisans, with wool sourced from the highlands of Momostenango, stay tuned for the brand’s upcoming Indonesia capsule too. Each new season is based on a different country and local craft techniques.
We recommend checking out the brand’s Instagram for stunning photographs of local markets and craftsmen’s workshops, as well as styling tips for fun, free-spirited interiors, reminiscent of the far-flung travels that led founders Janak Kohli and Yulia Kurdina to create the brand.
