Award-Winning Interior Design Firm UDesign Unveils New Marbella Masterpiece

The stunning new project is aptly called ‘A House of Beauty’

The lure of Marbella, the exclusive enclave on Spain’s Costa del Sol, continues to hold sway. Perhaps being based in the region has given interior design studio UDesign an understanding of creating luxury homes for the international elite who decide to nest here.

Their latest project, the Villa Nuraya, would certainly suggest so. Extraordinary in scope and eclecticism, Villa Nuraya unfolds over a high point in Marbella’s hilly hinterland.

Its clean, linear form is softened with spectacular landscaping in the shape of a series of gardens that wrap around and continue inside the home.

The lounge is curated with unique designs such as autumn breeze artefacts, a floating stairway cutting through the wall and tinge detailing of gold, silver and mercury. The purple knotty sofa is signed by Claes Oldenburg

“The delightful difficulty is not knowing where the garden ends and the interior begins,” affirms Jason Harris, creative director of UDesign. “We designed to a true concept of warm-weather architecture.”

While the exterior may recall international modernism, the interior is all about European culture, art and fine materials all chosen, crafted and placed to form a dazzling mise-en-scène.

The bedroom features gold, black and white details

White, marble and metallic surfaces contrast with an abundance of sea and garden views throughout the home, and are punctuated by museum-worthy art and design pieces too numerous to mention.

Standout pieces include large-scale portraits by art photographer Tim Tadder and South Korean painter Shin Kwangho, and a purple, knotty sofa signed by veteran pop artist Claes Oldenburg, as well as a room divider formed by giant slabs of glittering onyx.

The combination of white, gold and bronze adds special texture to the bathroom

Real-scale, brightly-coloured animal sculptures have also been placed in the garden, lending it a surreal jungle flavour.

“The art gallery-feel of the home is evident in every element of the house,” continues Jason, who has aptly named the project ‘A House of Beauty.’

“The overall combination is a mesmerising experience where your eyes travel and discover the space, smoothly allowing you to take in the full effect of what we aimed for.” Looking at the breathtaking result, UDesign has achieved this admirably. udesign.es
