Eva Petersson On Her Flourishing Acting Career, Beauty Must-Haves And Casual-Yet-Cool Style

Inside the life of Dubai’s very own 12-year-old award-winning actress

LIFE & ASPIRATIONS:

At what age did you start acting? I started at seven years old. I remember it being hard work but lots of fun.

Where can we see you? The short film, Where is Lucy? It’s still doing the rounds at film festivals, and it should be available on YouTube soon. Also, I just wrapped a new instalment of the US hit show, Go Iguanas! The Metaverse, which we shot in Seattle, and will be released this December.

How did you feel the first time you saw yourself on television? In awe at all the hard work and dedication that got me there.

What is your goal for the future? I would like to pursue my passion for film and acting at a prestigious college in the US, to continue learning about acting and performing. It requires lots of practice, hard work and dedication. And accepting rejection, too.

Which actor would you most like to star alongside? Timothée Chalamet. He is very charismatic and I love his acting choices.

Any advice for aspiring young actors in the Middle East? Keep learning your craft and never give up.

How do you like to spend your days off? Reading a book with my pet cat Max by my side. I also enjoy our Saturday family brunches at Zuma in Dubai.

Any other favourite spots in Dubai? I love going for walks and swims at Kite Beach. I always get a Booba drink on the way home.

FASHION:

Describe your style…The triple Cs: cute, comfy and chic. I like jeans from & Other Stories and T-shirts from Brandy Melville, paired with Dior sneakers or special-edition Converse.

What is your go-to party look? A hippie-style silk dress from Zara with Dr. Martens boots. For a film premiere look, my go-to is a Dior Kids dress.

Who is your style icon? Charlotte Casiraghi of Monaco. Celebrity wardrobe you’d like to raid? Emma Chamberlain.

BEAUTY:

Can’t-live-without products… Lee Stafford Coco Loco hairspray, Wishful Honey Balm jelly moisturiser, Kosas The Big Clean mascara, and many, many Glossier products including their Zit Stick treatment pen.

Favourite fragrance? A Lily of the Valley cologne I picked up from an all-organic beauty shop in London.

What is your at-home skincare regime… Before bedtime every night, I always wash my face with Glossier Milky Jelly cleanser and mist their Soothing Face Mist rose water. In the morning I apply Wishful Honey Balm jelly moisturiser for extra-glowing skin, plus Glossier Balm Dotcom. The lavender fragrance smells great, it hydrates my lips and looks super natural.

TECH, TRAVEL & CULTURE:

Most-used piece of tech? Airpods and my iPad.

Favourite Instagram accounts to follow? @jessicachastain – she won the Oscar for Best Actress this year and is an inspiration for her hard work and dedication. @chelsweets – she makes the most amazing cakes. @chanelofficial – I particularly love watching their fashion shows. And finally, @lucas_petersson_ – pro racer and student. My big brother and hero.

Most-used apps? TikTok to watch and learn from great creators and Snapchat – to talk to my friends. I also love the game, Run Race 3D.

Most-used emoji? The red heart.

Pros of social media? Marketing. And staying connected with family and friends.

Cons of social media? The haters.

Favourite movie? Interstellar with Jessica Chastain and Timothée Chalamet.

Albums you can’t switch off? Harry’s House by Harry Styles. Or anything by Coldplay.

Favourite holiday destination? St. Barts, because it’s a small piece of France, but in the Caribbean. It’s a beautiful destination for a quiet and magical holiday amongst amazing nature and scenery.

Best place in the world to eat? La Petite Maison. I love both the Dubai and Miami restaurants.

Motto you live your life by? Dream it and make it happen.
