
Who is Rehab Ahmed, The Egyptian Paralympic Weightlifting Champion Who Won Gold?

Securing Egypt’s second medal of the day at the Paris 2024 games, Rehab Ahmed claimed her title as Egypt’s Paralympic weightlifting champion in the 55kg category of the Paris Paralympic 2024 games, taking home a gold medal.
The 33-year-old athlete lifted an astonishing weight of 117kg on the first attempt and 121kg on the second attempt.
Rehab has had an impressive career and journey in lifting before claiming her gold medal this year. In the 2016 Summer Paralympics Games, held in Rio de Janeiro, the Egyptian athlete took home silver medal – shortly after, in 2020, setting an impressive Paralympic record, with a lift of 117kg.

This is her first Paralympic Gold Medal.
Rehab has participated in the Paralympics twice before, one at the Rio 2016 games and again at the Tokyo 2020 games.
She’s An International Weightlifting Champion.
Outside of the Paralympic Games, Rehab is a three-time World Champion at the World Para Powerlifting Champions – achieving three extraordinary gold medals whilst competing in the 50kg category. Countries included Mexico City, 2017, Nur-Sultan, 2019 and Tbilisi, 2021 where she truly left her mark.
After a successful athletic career so far, Rehab is praised and admired as one of Egypt’s most renowned Paralympic athletes.
She keeps a low profile.
Rehab does not appear to have a public Instagram account and prefers to keep her private life private.
