In October of last year, the Bruneian Royal family announced that Prince Abdul Mateen ibni Hassanal Bolkiah, the 32-year-old son of His Majesty Hassanal Bolkiah ibni Omar Ali Saifuddien III of Brunei, the Sultan and Prime Minister of Brunei, will wed Anisha Rosnah binti Adam, in a lavish ceremony that will begin on January 7 and end on January 16.

Prior to the wedding, Prince Abdul Mateen took to Instagram to share a lovely photo of himself and his fiancée with the caption, “Wishing you all the best for 2024 ?.”

The 10th child and 4th son of His Majesty Hassanal Bolkiah ibni Omar Ali Saifuddien III, Prince Abdul Mateen attended King’s College London in 2014 and Defence Helicopter Flying School in 2018. A lover of adventure and sports, the Prince of Brunei has been seen skydiving in Dubai and playing polo at the South East Asian Games. According to Hello!, The 10-day-long celebrations will commence with a proposal ceremony to receive the Royal Command. The event will feature special musical performances by artists from the Royal Court. The Royal couple will exchange marriage vows on January 11 at the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque in Brunei’s capital city of Bandar Seri Begawan.

The bride wore a traditional white baju kurung for the Khatam Quran ceremony

On January 3, the bride-to-be attended the Khatam Quran ceremony in an elegant pearly white custom-made baju kurung.

This traditional attire features a loosely fitted long-sleeved blouse over a long sarong or skirt which touches the ground. The ensemble, designed by Brunei’s leading fashion designer Teh Firdaus, was crafted with fabric woven using traditional methods, creating intricate patterns and designs. The dress was embellished with floral patterns along the sleeves and along the blouse, adding a touch of sophistication to this regal affair.

Who will be attending the wedding?

Although there has been no official announcement regarding the guest list, it is suspected that the royal banquet on January 14 will be attended by several prominent dignitaries, including Middle Eastern royals.

Prince Abdul Mateen recently visited the Middle East and engaged in discussions with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, and the King of Bahrain, His Majesty Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, leading to speculations about their attendance at the wedding.

Prince Abdul Mateen was also present at HRH Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II’s marriage to Princess Rajwa Al-Hussein.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Prince Abdul Mateen had attended King Charles III’s coronation. The Sultan had also attended Prince William’s wedding to Kate Middleton, so we might also see members of the British royal family grace Price Abdul Mateen’s ceremony.
