In solidarity and support for the people directly affected by the last month's blast in Beirut, Lebanon, Sony Music Entertainment Middle East has partnered with streaming service Anghami to support the platform’s 'The Sound of Beirut' fundraising concert. The virtual event is scheduled to kick off tonight at 21:00 (EEST).
The global family of Sony Music artists and teams have come together to shine a spotlight on this important fundraising event. Many of the label’s talents are featuring in the multi-language show, either by sending video messages of support from celebrity musicians like including French Montana and Mishaal or with exclusive performances of some of the biggest global hits from Alan Walker, Balqees, Craig David, Maya Diab, Regard, Powfu, Justin Jesso and more.
“The response and support from the Sony Music family of artists, both local and international, has been fantastic, to see some of the biggest acts in the world and region perform together, I am sure, will put an important spotlight on a tragedy that still needs our support and help," says Mike Fairburn, General Manager, Sony Music Middle East. "We’re all part of one global community and we all feel affected by what was a huge tragedy – not only for the city, but also the country and the region as a whole.”
"We stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters impacted so heavily by this tragic explosion,” added Eddy Maroun, CEO and founder of Anghami. “I would like to thank Sony Music and all the artists and our partners involved in this important fund raising initiative. The world has truly come together to support this cause, but we know more needs to be done so please tune in to see this fantastic acts, and give generously.”
All donations will go to Global Aid for Lebanon – set up by Global Citizen -- to support relief efforts by The Lebanese Red Cross, United Nations World Food Programme, and the Children's Cancer Center of Lebanon.
