Onitsuka Tiger Opens A Pop-Up Hotel To Commemorate 75th Brand Anniversary

The brand has just announced the opening of a new “hotel” in Paris, right in time for the Olympics. The pop-up is on the Champs-Élysées, where the brand is set to open its flagship store in July 2025. The experience promises a place where luxury meets creativity and offers a space full of experimental entertainment through time, music, and art, as well as a chance to indulge in culinary experiences.

Set in an 18th-century building, the hotel theme inspires visitors with the lineup of residents at the hotel, who range from artists, painters, musicians, and one remarkable chef who will be in charge of the café on site, Yellow Tiger Café. At the café, you can enjoy Japanese cuisine and delicacies like onigiri, sweets, and drinks. While visiting you can enjoy some traditional bites, shop for some new wardrobe pieces, while a pianist plays peacefully in the background, or see art being made.

The hotel concept will last until August 17 and will be free admission, although booking beforehand is recommended, as foot traffic is expected to be high. However, the celebratory festivities continue at another immersive hub in Tokyo later in August.

The brand is responsible for one of the most trending shoes of the year, which is the Mexico 66 sneaker, especially the in the yellow and black colourway, often referred to as the Kill Bill shoe. Asics, the parent company of Onitsuka Tiger initially released the iconic Mexico 66 sneaker during the pre-trials for the 1966 Olympics in Mexico City, hence the name. However, years later they are trending perhaps more than ever.

After that shoe’s cameo in the film, it became a go-to staple shoe during the early 2000s.  Fast forward to today, everyone from Bella Hadid to Prince William has been seen sporting a pair of the nostalgic Onitsuka Tiger.
