Fashion Trust Arabia 2023 Winners: The Complete List

After the decision by Fashion Trust Arabia to cancel its Fifth Annual Awards Ceremony in Qatar this year, a two-day virtual deliberation session was held for the finalists of the Fashion Trust Arabia Prize 2023.

The session included the participation of co-chairs HE Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani and Tania Fares, along with a distinguished panel of judges and advisory board members.

As a result of a showcase presentation on December 12 and 13, 7 winners were selected out of 24 finalists across 6 categories.

Evening Wear: Amir Al Kasm and Cynthia Merhej

Ready-to-Wear: Ahmed Amer

Jewellery: Katarina Tarazi

Accessories: Omar Taha and Lily Max

Franca Sozzani Debut Talent Award: Adam Elyasse

Guest Country Award Nigeria (in partnership with EMERGE Initiative): Adeju Thompson

The winners will receive a grant of $100,000 to $200,000. The Franca Sozzani Debut Talent Awardee will receive $25,000. Leading global luxury e-commerce platform MATCHES will carry collections by Ready-to-Wear, Accessories and Jewellery category winners for one season, in addition to providing a one-year mentorship program. British Luxury brand Harrods will present the Evening-Wear winner’s collection.

Additionally, FTA will offer winners mentorships with The Bicester Collection and showroom representation and PR consultancy by Maison Pyramide. The Ready-to-Wear category winner will be offered an internship by Huntsman in London, to create a capsule collection for the retailer’s e-commerce platform. Luxury ethical fashion retail platform Maison De Mode will provide a mentorship program to all winners highlighting the significance of sustainability.

Fashion Trust Arabia is a non-profit organisation with a commitment towards finding, funding and nurturing talented designers across the MENA region combined with raising a cultural awareness to its fashion industry.

Fashion Trust Arabia was developed in 2018 by co-founder Tania Fares and co-chair HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and held under the patronage of Honorary Chair HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser. To be a part of the FTA, applications are submitted from emerging designers in the MENA region, and the FTA Advisory Board selects 20 designers as their finalists who shall have the chance to win one of the five FTA Awards available at the annual awards ceremony.

This years’ Advisory Board is comprised of Ana Khouri, Beka Gvishiani, Carljin Jacos, Carlos Nazario, Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, Kelly Wearstler, Michael Ward, Miral Youssef, Nadia Dhouib, Peter Dundas, Piergiorgio Del Moro, Piotrek Panszyck and Beckett Fogg, Sarah Staudinger, Tyler Mitchell and Valerie Messika. The returning Advisory Board members of last year’s edition are Adam Baidawi, Caroline Issa, Fabio Piras, Imruh Asha, Nina Garcia, Saif Mahdhi, Sara Sozzani Maino and Tiffany Godoy.
