Balenciaga Launches Koala Capsule To Fight Australian Bushfire Crisis

100% of the proceeds from the sales of the collection are being donated to support Australian bushfire relief efforts

There has never been a better time to shop Balenciaga. The French fashion house has just released a Koala-themed capsule collection to benefit the conservation of Australian wildlife as it fights the catastrophic bushfires which have been raging across the country since September. The capsule, which features Australia’s vulnerable Koala, features a t-shirt and a hoodie, and Balenciaga has pledged to donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the sales of these items to a local conservation organization at this critical time.

The news of the capsule comes following Kering’s announcement that its family of brands will be coming together to support the efforts of the Australian people in the right against the wildfires. “Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Brioni, Boucheron, Pomellato, Dodo, Qeelin, Ulysse Nardin and Girard-Perregaux will together donate a total of 1 million Australian dollars as an immediate contribution. These funds will be provided to the most appropriate local organizations selected by the Group’s sustainability experts,” said Kering within the official statement.

The Australian wildfires have become a topic of international debate, sparking conversations regarding much-needed environmental policies that will aim to prevent such disasters from taking place in the future. At this time, it is believed that one billion animal lives have been lost as a direct result of the fires along with over 23 human lives and more than 1,500 homes.
