The UAE is officially on board to help raise awareness and funds for the Australian bushfire crisis as indicated by the launch of the #MatesHelpMates campaign which launched on Expo 2020 Dubai’s official Instagram page this morning. The touching campaign highlights the crisis that Australia is currently facing and works to build awareness that the bushfires are a man-made climate problem and that it affects us all.
The video comes following UAE’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem Al Hashimy’s talks with Peter Dutton Australian Minister of Home Affairs where they worked to understand and coordinate relief efforts and help raise funds.
The #MatesHelpMates campaign video developed by the Expo 2020 Dubai team has already been shared by Dubai’s Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan on this Instagram account and Dubai’s Burj Khalifa will be hosting a moment for Australia at 8pm this evening to show solidarity, raise awareness and share information on how UAE residents can help.
The campaign’s fund-raising efforts are being run by Emirates Red Crescent, who have created a bespoke, one-click e-donation service to facilitate donations from the UAE.
