Very few have come close to mastering Ingie Paris’ blend of red-carpet elegance with quintessential French flair, and next season is the perfect example of why. For A/W20, the Lebanese powerhouse pays tribute to one of the most dynamic female icons in Hollywood cinema, Anjelica Huston, to create a free-spirited collection that brings the rebellious glamour of modern-day femininity to life.
Possibly one of the greatest unsung style heros of the ’70s, Anjelica personifies the art of non-conformist fashion, and the collection, in return, mirrors her androgynous aesthetic infused with ’70s bohemia.
Billowing dresses complete with pleats, frills and drapery are nipped-in with heavy buckled belts, while oversized blazers are paired with this season’s most-coveted bermuda shorts and ruched boots – power dressing at its best. The star piece, however, has to be a heavily beaded, thigh-spilt dress with plumes of soft feathers emerging from the cuffs; a gown that wouldn’t look out of place at Studio 54 way back when.
A daring colour palette of hot pink and bold jade-green take centre stage, sitting alongside a subtle collection of cream and blush- pinks, while exotic zebra prints and the house’s signature florals embody the carefree spirit of the decade.
Ingie Paris’ A/W20 collection seamlessly marries the past with the present and is nothing less than ultra-polished. Ultimately, she strips everything back to one timeless idea – celebrating the real, unique and fierce women of today.
