Introducing The Karl Lagerfeld DIY Couture Knit Box Set
Designed by Karl, knitted by you – this commemorative box set is one that money can’t buy
The latest collaboration between Karl Lagerfeld and The Woolmark Company has something very special in-store, with an online competition to win an exclusive couture do-it-yourself design kit. In memory of the late Karl Lagerfeld, this collaboration is significant as a tribute to his life and legacy.
The limited edition ‘Knit Karl’ box has just been introduced by a collaboration between the Maison Karl Lagerfeld and The Woolmark Company. There are 777 haute couture box kits that can be won in an online competition, where customers have to search for a special code. The competition will commence from 7th February to 7th March, where the codes have to be entered on the website: www.knitkarl.com
These special ‘Knit karl’ box sets have included within them all the materials and the instructions – with exclusive Australian merino wool, knitting needles, yam, personalized pins and one of four Lagerfeld designs. You can design your own pullover, cap, hairband or scarf. The Australian merino wool is 100 per cent natural, renewable and biodegradable.
“This entire year we have launched special projects and initiatives to celebrate Karl’s life and legacy,” said Caroline Lebar, from Karl Lagerfeld. “As Karl’s first-ever creation was for the Woolmark Prize in 1954, it feels appropriate to celebrate his life with this collaboration with The Woolmark Company.”
It was in 1954 that Karl Lagerfeld first won the Woolmark Prize in the coat category, a prize that launched his career as a designer. As a tribute to his work, the Karl Lagerfeld Award will be presented at the 2020 International Woolmark Prize. Moreover, all knitwear by Karl Lagerfeld will be made using Woolmark-certified premium wool starting from Fall 2020.
“It is emotional that Karl Lagerfeld’s first major accomplishment was with wool, as was one of his last projects. The “Knit Karl” box give each owner a unique experience that combines the pride of wearing a high-fashion designer piece with the satisfaction of having created it themselves,” says The Woolmark Company managing director, Stuart McCullough.
The Woolmark Company have collaborated on this project since 2018, where they came up with the initial phases of the project to commemorate their longstanding relationship with Woolmark. It is only in 2020 itself that their products have been made available using Woolmark certified premium wool.
